Advanced Process Control

This content is a training module that introduces the user to the field of Advanced Process Control. The module is written in a simple to follow structure that attempts to present the concepts of advanced control from an applications perspective, without the complex engineering terminology.

It presents the material from the base concepts of what advanced control is, through to various types of control (i.e. cascade control, feedforward, constraint, model based control, etc.). It describes the plant responses for various loop types, explains the principles of PID (Proportional, Integral and Derivative) control, the various methods of loop control, and the many different process dynamics that may be encountered when operating a plant.

The target audience for this content is aimed at operators or engineers who are familiar with process operations. It also assumes the reader has an understanding of how Honeywell TPS systems are utilized in plant control.
